How to Install DLink DAP-X1860 WiFi Range Extender?

Wifi extenders are a boon for people who have a wireless network but want more coverage. They help you extend the range of your router and make it possible to connect devices that are farther away from it.

Step 1: Plug your D-Link DAP-X1860 Wi-Fi Range Extender into an electrical outlet within the wireless range of your wireless router.

  • Plug your D-Link DAP-X1860 Wi-Fi Range Extender into an electrical outlet within the wireless range of your wireless router.
  • Make sure that there's power to the unit and that it is connected to an electric outlet with good power capacity (on both ends).
  • If you have a surge protector, turn it on!

Step 2: Press the WPS button on your wireless router.

Press the WPS button on your wireless router. If you don't know the WPS button, check your wireless router's user manual and look at the settings under "WPS" or "Wi-Fi Protected Setup."

If your router doesn't have a WPS button and it's not possible to access via its web interface (or if you're using an extender like ours), simply follow these steps

Connect one end of an Ethernet cable from your Extender to an open port on the back of your modem/router box (you can use any available port).

Plug another end into one side of a power source near where it says "Internet" on top; for example, if there are two electrical outlets nearby but only one has power cords attached then choose that outlet first since it will provide better coverage for long distances away from both ends when selecting locations within range).

Step 3: After one minute, press the WPS button again on your Extender.

If you have successfully connected to your extender and is running, then you can use the web-based management page of the D-Link Wi-Fi range extender to configure it according to your requirements.

Step 4: If a WPS connection is successful, the LEDs will blink simultaneously and the Connection to WAP is displayed on the Wi-Fi extender's web-based management page.

If a WPS connection is successful, the LEDs will blink simultaneously and the Connection to WAP is displayed on the Wi-Fi extender's web-based management page.

The next step is to verify that your Extender has access to a wired LAN port (1 Gbps) or wireless router. If you do not have access to either of these devices, you can still use this guide but it may require some additional steps from your end.
