How to Fix Issues on D-Link DAP-1520 WiFi Repeater?

1) Please Check the Devices that are Off-Range Extenders

Before you check your range extender, it is important for you to ensure that your home network is functioning properly. You can easily test your connection on your tablet, smartphone, and computer, which is not connected to the range extender.

It is preferred to use a device that is connected to your router through an ethernet cable. In case it is not possible, then use a device, which is directly connected to your home Wi-Fi network. 

2) Reduce Wireless Interference

Wireless signal interference can lead to performance issues like intermittent connections or slow connections. This type of interference can happen because of the presence of electromagnetic fields created by electronic devices such as seasonal lighting, microwave ovens, remote-controlled toys, baby monitors, cordless phones, and Bluetooth-capable devices. Structural materials like large objects, furnishings, floors, and walls can also cause this problem. 

In order to minimize the interference caused by other electronic devices, you need to turn off your devices temporarily. Also, you are required to turn off your connection. In case the problem is still occurring, then you must move the device away from the devices that are causing interference. 

If you wish to reduce wireless interference caused by other structures or objects, then you must relocate the device on which you are facing connection problems. 

3) Find the Best Location 

The main aim of using a Wi-Fi extender is to improve the Wi-Fi coverage at your home by acquiring the signal from your router and then expanding it in the dead zones of your house. For this, you are required to locate your router within the coverage area of your wireless router.

If you wish to maintain the signal of your Wi-Fi devices, then you must place it optimally from your wireless router.

Below are the steps that you need to follow for the same. 

Step 1: Connect your range extender to your electrical outlet in the area where you wish to expand the Wi-Fi coverage. 

Step 2: Check indicator lights on the front of your range extender. A solid green light will give you a great wireless signal. A solid amber light means a weak Wi-Fi signal. 

Step 3: If an indicator light indicates a weak Wi-Fi signal, then connect the range extender to the power source that is close to your Wi-Fi router. 

Step 4: Repeat the whole process until your extender gives you an excellent signal. 

4) Power Cycle 

Below mentioned are the easy steps that you need to follow in order to power cycle your router. 

Step 1: First of all, disconnect your range extender to the power source. 

Step 2: Wait for at least 10 seconds. 

Step 3: Reconnect your extender to the power source. 

Step 4: Please make sure that the indicator light turns on. 

Step 5: Wait for a minute and then your range extender will start fully.
