D-Link Extender Connected But No Internet?

Having trouble connecting your D-Link Extender Connected But No Internet? Here's the solution!

Regardless of the model, it is simple, although occasionally challenging, to uncover problems with connectivity with your extender.

It might be caused by an apparent router-extender connection throttling, but it might also be due to incorrectly configured network settings!

When the D-Link WiFi extender is connected without internet connectivity, the problem can be fixed by performing a hard reset of the device and configuring the network settings on the extender. Link your WiFi devices to the extender's network following that, and then reset your router's DNS!

Once the D-Link WiFi Extender is connected, you can access the internet!

After learning more about the problem and the circumstances leading up to it, we can now take you throughout every step of the troubleshooting process. You only need to try each of our solutions in the order that they are listed chronologically. Not reading the notes, advice, along with alerts won't help!

Solution 1:  Reset the Extender Hard

  • Despite the fact that it is a simple thing to try, many users have only used this approach after encountering the issue for the first time.
  • The Hard Reset is carried out by temporarily removing the power to the specific electronic equipment.
  • By doing so, the gadget will completely discharge its electrical components and refresh its hardware and software.
  • As seen below, the extension can be hard reset.
  • If it has one, your D-Link extender's power button should be pressed.
  • Wait three to five seconds.
  • Remove the extender's plug from the adjacent outlet.
  • During the extender's 5-minute discharge, remain inactive.
  • Connect the extender to the occupied power outlet once more.
  • Activate the device.
  • Keep in mind that turning off your extender will shut off the hosted WiFi network. As a result, all of the devices that are connected will briefly become unpaired.

Solution #2: Adjust the Network Settings on the Extender

  • We'll enter your D-Link Extender's Network Management Page in this step.
  • From there, we'll deal with your extender's various network settings to address potential configuration-related failures.
  • You must browse the page while linked to the extender's WiFi network via your computer or laptop.

Once the extender and WiFi are connected, proceed as follows:

  • Open the connected device's browser.
  • Before continuing, let the Connection Setup Wizard verify your credentials.
  • (Optional) If you weren't automatically redirected, type http://dlinkap.local (Optional). If you haven't yet configured your extension, press "WPS" and follow the instructions.
  • Go to the Network Settings tab by navigating.
  • Reconnect your WiFi- Enabled devices as Option #3
  • As you are likely aware, configuring a WiFi extender will produce a different network hosted by the router and your active WiFi.
  • Your router's connection will continue to be utilised by the WiFi your extension hosts, but it will be the "extended" version hosted by the extender.
  • If you don't change the WiFi settings on your secondary device, you can experience outages that affect the router rather than the extender.
  • You must therefore reconnect each device to the extension.

To join your WiFi-enabled devices, follow these simple steps:

  • On the device you want to connect, go to Settings.
  • Navigate to the WiFi tab.
  • Pick a router network.
  • If you're linked, click "Disconnect".
  • Find the WiFi network hosted by the extender that has a "D-Link" in its name.
  • Choose WiFi, then enter the network key.
  • "Connect" should be clicked.
  • Wait
  • The status for the extender's WiFi in your device's settings will shift to "Connected" if your extender has been configured correctly.
  • Updating the Extender's Firmware is the Fourth Option
  • The WiFi will stop working if your extender has, for some reason, been unable to be automatically upgraded. Specific network checks will fail as a result.
  • To fix this issue rapidly, you'll need to update the extension under Web Settings manually.

Here's how to manually update the firmware on your extender:

  • Your computer or laptop should open a browser and connect to the extender.
  • Enter "http://dlinkap.local" in the search box of the browser.
  • Use the registration information you created during setup to log in after that.
  • On the page, click "Management" in the top right corner.
  • Choose "Upgrade" from the drop-down option.
  • Select "Check for New Firmware" from the page's menu at the top.
  • Await the discovery and identification of upgrades.
  • You might also choose "Upload" at the bottom of the same "Management" page and choose a firmware file on your PC.

To resolve the issue of a D-Link WiFi Extender being linked without internet access, hard reset the device and flush the router's network DNS. After that, link your WiFi devices to the extender's network, update the firmware, and restart the extender.
